The Carnation is one of the best-known flowers used for leis because of their natural shape and the variety of colors available plus durability. The scientific name is Dianthus Caryophyllus. Not only does the carnation feature a dense arrangement of petals but it also has a subtle, sweet fragrance that is sure to be enjoyed by the person that wears it.

Carnations come in pink, peach, light red, dark red, magenta, white, and yellow. They can also be tinted blue or green. There is also a special cultivar known as the Moon variety that features beautiful hues of purple. A carnation lei can last up to four to five days if properly refrigerated.

Red carnations symbolize power, strength, and boldness. White carnations symbolize elegance and purity. Also, white can match any school color! The antique peach is just simply beautiful.

Leis are commonly worn for graduations, birthdays, and anniversaries. They can be gifted to both men and women. It's a perfect father's day gift too!
